Minor transfer is a convention used for responding strong 1NT opening, when responder hold 6+ cards of a Minor and does not have any 4+ cards Major. In GIB convention card used by BBO robots, 2NT and 3!c are reserved for minor transfer convention.
If opener bids 1NT and responder has 6+ !c, Responder will bid 2NT under a convention called Minor transfer. This announces to the opener TRANSFER to CLUBS.
Minor transfer is a convention hence 1 round forcing. Opener is obligated to bid 3!c.
If opener bids 1NT and responder has 6+ !d, Responder should bid
3!c, This announces to the opener TRANSFER to DIAMONDS.
there is no minimum points criteria for using Minor transfer.

- If responder’s next bid is 3 of a new suit, he is promising a singleton or void in that suit, but not necessarily slam interest
- Responder’s 3NT rebid is a mild slam try (usually balanced).
- Responder’s 4NT rebid is RKCB
When holding a weak hand, Before initiating Minor transfer, spend a movement to evaluate your trick taking potential in 1NT declare. Many times, it is better to play in 1NT for 7 tricks than to play in Minor trumps at level 3 for 9 tricks.
